Encouragement for New Parents

Pregnancy can be scary for new parents, especially when surrendering to God’s plan and timing when his agenda doesn’t match your own timing. Lack of resources, time, finances, and feelings of inadequacy can quickly plague a pregnancy. Having His truth to protect our minds is a must for defeating the negative thoughts that creep up from our own insecurities and the enemy.

(On a side note; we are NOT pregnant or planning to be anytime soon. I’ve had a few friends become pregnant at the same time)

Psalm 127:3-5 {NLT}

Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. How joyful is the mans whose quiver is full of them!

The message says:

Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift?
    the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?
Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows
    are the children of a vigorous youth.
Oh, how blessed are you parents,
    with your quivers full of children!
Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you;
    you’ll sweep them right off your doorstep.

Husbands are even more nervous about becoming a parent, because it doesn’t come natural to them, they don’t have a parenting instinct. This scripture really speaks to husbands and focuses on children as assets rather than liabilities. Opportunities rather than a burden.

You could print and frame these images to give to your husband upon pregnancy reveal so that he will be washed over with God’s provision and grace rather than feelings of fear.
